Welcome to the second annual URB PRK Concert Series at Cafe Mosaics in Edmonton. URB PRK is an organization that works with local businesses and emerging young talent in Architecture and Planning to create innovative and sustainable parks within an urbanscape. Each Sunday, for six consecutive weeks, Welcome to the West is producing a unique concert experience upon our Whyte Avenue bandstand. This year, we are proud to be presenting 24 Edmonton artists on the ‘APERTURE’ stage – the winning architectural design by Team GASCH: Kian Hosseinnia, Pearl Cao, Dimah Ghazal, Ous Abou Ras, and Tina Siassi from University of Toronto. Each week, the bandstand will be adorned with an original backdrop created by visual artist, Haylee Fortin. The next concert will be held on Sunday, August 20 featuring performances by Cayley Thomas, Amy van Keeken, Katie & the Wildfire, and a DJ set to start of the night from 4-6pm by Hairy Popularity & Wayne Jetski.

Sunday, August 20 >>> Cayley Thomas >>> 8pm

Cayley Thomas is a singer and guitarist from Edmonton, Alberta. She just got back the inaugural Singer/Songwriter Residency at The Banff Centre and is excited to share new songs with you. Invitations to the 2013 Edmonton and Canmore Folk Music Festivals continued to pave the way for this ambitious artist. In 2016 she released her second album entitled ‘Weird Love.’

Sunday, August 20 >>> Amy van Keeken >>> 7pm

But most endemic to her artistry is her (Amy van Keeken‘s) ability to capture a moment in time and bring you inside – her songs are simultaneously visceral and ethereal and as comfortable with chaos as they are silence.

Sunday, August 20 >>> Katie & the Wildfire >>> 6pm

Described by The Vue Weekly as “chill waves of indie, folk, soul and reggae that intersect with flowing, organic vocals.” Katie & The Wildfire is a vibrant, unique group that creates a modern hybrid of the folk and neo soul sounds of today. Their versatile sound and intricate arrangements weave catchy melodies with complex rhythms. It features four individuals of varying musical backgrounds: Katie Laine (vocals & guitar), JD Speelman (electric and acoustic bass), Sam Malowany (drums), and Clara Woodward (keyboard).
